Altoids - not for the faint of tongue

Postby HBGhost » Tue Nov 22, 2011 7:58 pm

I bought a tin of Altoids curiously strong peppermints yesterday. I opened the tin and "not for the faint of tongue" was written on the paper inside. It made me think about my Dad telling me that if I was gonna smoke a pipe, I would have to toughen my tongue. My Dad and Grandad always had a tin of Altoids with them. And here I am many years after my Grandad handed me my first Altoids, and chuckled at the face I made, wondering if Altoids actually are a pipe smoker's accessory. It is lost to me when exactly I started to buy them as regularly as tobacco.

Sing in me, and through me tell the story
Of that man skilled in all the ways of contending
A wanderer, harried for years on end..."

We have some mints here in the UK with "XXX" on the label, and "Can you handle them?"

I love a strong mint.

Those are the ones! Try eating five at a time, chew em - then drink a glass of water!

We can get altoids in the uk, the pound shop sells them, blooming great.

DONT REUSE THE TIN FOR BACCY

Trust me, dont reuse the tin for baccy, altoids and condor do not a good mix make.

I eat a few altoids after smoking a pipe, before starting work.

Altoids makes a ginger flavored "mint". YUMMY.... my favorite!

I also like the Altoids "smalls" in cinnamon.

Hell, I never knew they made ginger. I'd give that a shot.

Cinnamon was always my favorite

I didn't know they made ginger either. I'm going to have to try those myself.

I love Altoids. They definitely are strong on the mint flavor. I always have on me, or nearby.

The used tins make excellent ashtrays for use in the car. No chance of spillage.
