I missed rhondyvous this year and missed out on a chance to get some antler tips. I use them for pressure flaking arrow points. They must make great tampers. I gotta get me some antlers.

I bought a couple of tampers that I often use, i Use Erics technique for tamp pressure, works well. Here they are.



seriously though, ive found a czech tool to be of good service, although they do have a habit of hiding from me.

The tamper end of the Brebbia nail is good for the teensy Peterson #317

and the coke spoon end of the Brebbia tool is really good for getting those individual unburnt tobacco particles off the inside of the bowl

At home, I have a Brebbia pipe nail that I keep on my computer table. When I'm out and about I use a Czech tool, although, I have started to use my finger tip more and more.

Several friends of mine bagged some bucks this year. I'm going to have to see if I can get my hands on some antler and make some of the antler tampers. I've also been trying to come up with an original tamper design using an ammo casing.

Czech tool always with me when I'm smoking. Lost one once so bought a bunch on eBay ... then found the one I lost - and haven't lost another yet. I think they may reproduce in the dark of a tobacco cellar.

The other day I found myself for the first time not reaching into my pocket for my czech tool, but puling my hand out of pocket for my index finger. It worked!

I have some antler that was my brothers hanging up in my shop, one day I'll get around to making a tamper with some antler and ammo shell.

*shrug* I just didn't know what else to do with the damn things. It isn't from my setup, we were blasting out at the range and I took a bunch of the casings. Gotta use 'em for something. Plus, if I lose one at a bar, it'll give the after-hours cleaning folk something to wonder about. The weight on 'em is perfect, and the open end does a great job getting the dottle out.

I have a great retractable Comoy's tamp/tool that stays at home with me.

I tend to use a Czech tool mostly. I've got a good few fancy tampers ( including a Brim antler ) but the one I never forget to take with me is the index finger of my right hand.
