Are these lighters gas or petrol ? Do they have good road use from one fill ? Thing that's putting me off my zippo is the fact that one fill lasts around two days. Something wrong there.

Just an update for you Jim. Tomorrow is two weeks on one fill. Flame is set to 1" and I've been smoking say five bowls per day with maybe three lights each, not bad me thinks. I prefer a bit more flame but slowly slowly catchee monkey.

Watching this thread with interest Rolf expecially after yet another cheapo so called pipe lighter has given up the ghost! but being a canny scot wanting to be sure before laying out this kind of money So keep up the the updates they are much appreciated!

Rolf, what's the secret to smoking a bowl on just three lights? I need at least 5-6. A couple days ago I smoked a bowl to the bottom with no re-lights. First time that's happened in at least three years. Once when I was learning the fold and stuff method I stuffed the tobacco, which was way too moist, too tightly into the bowl and it took a box of 32 matches to smoke that damned bowl. Sheesh. Pitiful. Pitiful I say. Pitiful!

No secret Chuck, sometimes I use heaps more. I was just trying to give Jim a bit of an average use figure. On some days I can struggle to get a toby to burn for more than a couple of puffs, then I know it's time to move on.

Just an update here. I'm pretty impressed with this little lighter. The gas lasted a month! in line with one flint used too. I use this lighter every day so I'm well pleased.
Mine has no tamper either so I'm not sure if that leads to more gas space.

Interesting!!! I have never heard of an Old Boy without a tamper.

Yeah I thought they all had tampers but apparently not.
I bought mine off EBay, it was the barley finish? Doesn't have the angle flame which would be nice and the filling screw has its own flap to undo it, also the flint screw doesn't have a slot. It may have been old stock or maybe a cigarette model, who knows but either way it's a goody and if I were to loose it I would order another straight away.

I've grown to love the thing now. Good quality and now matches have been set aside other than for outdoor duties.

Damn! A month!?! No tamper? Sounds like a model I've never seen. I get 4-5 days off a fill with mine.

Are you sure that's an OldBoy? Reason I ask is that I saw two lighters on ebay that look like OldBoys but they have no tampers and the flame goes straight up instead of being angled. They look more like retro cigar lighters than pipe lighters and they aren't OldBoys or any other model of Corona. Could it be you copped one of those? I'll try to find them and post a pic. Sounds like a good lighter whatever it is!!!

Edit: I found the lighter I was thinking of but ebay won't allow download of the flippin pics! The lighters on ebay are made by Wellington. Not that any of this makes a whit of difference. You like the lighter and its a good one and that's all that matters. Personally I'm interested because I wouldn't mind getting one of whatever it is. A month on a single fill of fuel!!!! Outasight!

No she's definitely made by IM Corona Japan.
I got the box out to have a look if there was a model number but nothing.
From the instructions they list three other models, Classico, Delgado and New Maggie. I'm guessing it's a Classico.
I do prefer a larger flame but for a test set the flame to around one inch high to give a starting point, this gave me a month.

I think these were retailing for approx. $100 (US). I got one last year and so far no complaints.

My old boy was a bit stiff at first but it got better with time. Now it is the only lighter I use...

That's it Chuck. Same packaging, same engine turned finish which I think was called barley. Mines silver. From the remarks to that video they say its dearer than the oldboy and of better quality/feel. Don't know about that as I would of thought that most of the parts would be interchangeable.
