Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. BBC 1979

I find this series/film most satisfying in not only the well written dialog but in what I think of as how the real world of spies and espionage was at the time it represented. The cast of actors, the plot, and the subject matter are far more stimulating than most of the rubbish cranked out by modern TV and film makers today.

Alec Guinness is a joy to absorb in his subtle but artistic craft. It's like a enjoying one of your desert island blends in a favorite pipe that you hope never ends.

This is why I own this set of discs and can indulge as my fancy strikes.

Recently watched the remake, which I enjoyed. I've never seen the Guinness version, I'll have to give it a go.

Waiting to watch TV till the Red's / Rockies game later tonight...

I enjoy them both. Much like two children (completely different) from the same mother but there will always be something special about the first born. :D

"Airport" from 1970 with Burt Lancaster, Dean Martin, and George Kennedy. Probably my third watch over many years. Not a top favorite but the mood hit.

Off topic ,but it is what I am about to watch .The first day of play of the cricket match between Gloucestershire and Kent on a beautiful sunny day .
Gloucestershire won the toss and are going to bat .
The weather forecast for the other 3 days of play is rain or heavy showers .

Just finished up the second season of House of Cards. Tonight I will start with the new season of 24.

The 13th Warrior for the umpteenth time.

As I don't have a TV, I've been watching some old movies on iPlayer. The Saint, starring George Sanders. Very simplistic, but rather pleasant and entertaining. I love old black and white films anyway! I am a great fan of the Ealing and Powell/Pressburger films and recently watched 'I Know Where I'm Going'. Very eccentric, very English and very enjoyable!
