Dear Sir - thank you for your kidn words...
....
i understand you completely... i have seen this also arround - the pipes are bigger and more fancy...
i was thinking to make smaller ones but there is a problem - i don't like to make classical shapes...

when i started to make pipes i was doing them for myself and to get my hands to do something (otherwise i would go crazy)

... have to be a busy bee

.... and my personal preference is to make pipes like i feel... this almost allways takes me to pipes that are over 50gr in weight...
once i made a billiard and a pot - very classical, lightweight shapes - they were not accepted that good as pipes that are bigger ... i waited longer to sell them than i wait for those bigger babies to find a home...
i don't know - maybe pipe smokers are buying smaller pipes at a bigger manufacturers and those "artwork" ones at pipemakers like me - not sure....
i was thinking if i should make classical shapes, even if i don't like to make them in general (i like better to shape pipes like i feel).. i am not sure if i should do that... there are a lot of companies producing classical shapes - some are bigger, some are small... i don't know - making that kind of pipes would put me in their range - than i would probably loose that advantage that i have if i make a pipe like the Son of the Snapdragon... that one was never made.. it is one and unique - the only one in the world... it makes me feel good and it looks good (IMHO)

.. why should i make a billiard... i hope you see my point...
however, i am making a bamboo shank billiard right now.. and also a bamboo shank poker/cherrywood is on the bench... they will probably also not be to light but they are going towards the classical... will see how they will be accepted

regards, daniel
