We should probably burn more oil just in case we didn't have anything to do with it.

Only this week I've had to throw out two cartons of milk that were kept in the fridge and still went off because of the heat. It's 2346 here and I've got a fan going to cool down and have had for a while now.

Could be worse I suppose. I could live in an igloo. No privacy !

Oh I agree, we can't know for sure until the last polar bear drowns. Besides, there's no other reason to change things up.

The world has shifted and split up or consolidated entire land masses, the actual poles have shifted directions, and we have lost huge mega-fauna and flora populations over the past few billion years. We have had periods where the vast majority of the planet was hotter than it is now and mostly covered with steamy swamps, and periods where ice flowed down southward further than it is now. Why all of a sudden our existence on the planet has anything to do with anything amazes me at times. I feel we constantly fight and battle to keep status quo on things we will never be able to control, regardless of what we do/do not do while we occupy the blue marble for our brief while.

I agree Dodger, man has had his hand in some not so great outcomes. However, when mother nature decides its time for a glacial or warming period, whole ecosystems will crash and burn. No WWO, PETA, or anything will be able to stop that outcome.

IMO, Carlin hits the nail square on the head. I do believe we can strive to make a better world where we live, and more importantly where our children and future ancestors will live, but in the big scheme of things it may not really matter when the planet decides to "shake off the fleas".
