Hookah?

Postby custodian » Sat Jul 27, 2013 3:21 am

The rage with college girls in Southern IL/IN last summer was a hookah bar that stayed open late in a local strip mall. My GF's daughter and her friends even bought a medium size pipe... and have offered to bring it over to fire up on the deck when the weather cools off later in the year. Seems they have been barred from any of their parents houses for the smell, staying up late night, and in one case dropping the charcoal on someones Mom's kitchen floor... scarring the vinyl flooring. Anybody on here hit on the water pipe in the past? I never used an actual hookah with sisha in the past... only the bong while in HS and college.

Tried it a couple of times and it is like sucking scented air , with no hint of vitamin N .i never tried it with real tobacco .
I think it has become popular because it is a social event ,due to the fact you can share the hookah with friends .

I shared a hookah back in the 70's with some friends. Not sure what the tobacco was but I was well starving afterwards !

We were invited to dinner by a client of my spouse. The family was old school Lebanese and we had a great time as they explained each dish to us. After dinner I was invited to partake of their traditional hookah. I did not smoke pipes at the time, but found the cool smoke tasteless when compared to the occasional cigar. I enjoyed the social aspect and they were very kind to have offered the smoke.

As an aside it was very interesting to see the traditional manners alongside the new western ones. One wife wore traditional clothing and spoke little to us, while another wore western clothing. There was no edge between them that I noted, just different styles.

It was a very pleasant afternoon.

I own a water pipe that I bought back from Turkey (seeing as I couldn't find a single meer) and it is very pleasant and I get to enjoy it at home! I've got some tobacco for it as well as molasses. The tobacco gives a vit n hit after about an hour or so but its very mild. They're a bit of fun more than anything and quite nice with an apple tea!!
I went to sea to see what I could see, and all I've seen is the bloody sea !
