Pictures of Happy Non-Humans

Because there's more to life than pipe smoking. If it will not fit another forum, bring it up here.

Dug! hogging the couch. Even when I am sitting on it he'll come and sit next to me, push against me with his legs whilst lying down, and I end up crushed up against one side. If I get up to make tea this is what he ends up doing ;

Image

He's a right wee bugger like that. And yet......

Image

P.S. He's not a cross breed. He's a smooth collie. We were the first to see the litter on the farm I got him from ( both his parents were working sheep dogs ) and out of a litter of rough collies there were two smooth collies. The people on the farm kept one of the smooth collies and I nabbed the other. You don't see many of them around.

Your picture of the diver and the shark reminds me of a true recent story involving a local museum. Some wag from the museum decided to build a fake door, with an attached sign saying: "Behind this door is the world's most dangerous animal". When the unsuspecting public opened it, they found themselves looking into a full length mirror! After numerous complaints, the display was dismantled. Wonder why?

It seems to me that humans often place much too much importance upon the groups to which they feel they belong. Racism, football hooliganism, and religious conflict are just some of the results this kind of thinking can have. And it explains why the idiotic museum-visitors didn't wish to be reminded that they belong biologically to a group identified as 'dangerous' and an 'animal'. I call it wilful ignorance. Even the educational value of museums can be defeated if the ignorance is wilful enough :roll:

When I read the thread title I thought, "Oh my! Just what non-humans might I see?" Animals, that's cool. I have had cats all my life and feel that I can detect a happy mood in them. But imputing happiness to a whale or submerged hippo, that's not something I feel that I can do, which is not to say that others can't. Maybe it's like tasting corn while smoking a cob, a perception I don't feel I'll ever have.
Pipe smoking: the most cultivated taking of tobacco; a good friend and a sublime addiction; but give me a cigar, too. But so expensive: smoke up and smoke less.

Yeah, it was just for pictures of non-human animals that look happy to human eyes :)
