You know what's you favourite pipe when...

Because there's more to life than pipe smoking. If it will not fit another forum, bring it up here.

You know what's you favourite pipe when...

Postby Falconeer » Sun Feb 22, 2015 9:55 am

Spain just about runs on bottled butane gas for cooking and heating - so much so that nearly every small village can count on the CEPSA man coming round up to twice a week bringing cylinders to homes and businesses.

This winter's been cooler than usual for Southern Spain - so instead of our usual two bottles seeing us through the winter yesterday I got a third one. I propped the trolley against a sofa and started unbuckling the retainer - and the damn thing dropped right onto my middle finger left hand breaking the digit.

Ice, whisky and a smoke were on the menu, pronto - but instead of the 80s I'd been happily smoking up to then - it just HAD to be my old silver mounted apple Donegal Rocky - nothing else would do.

Not a test I'd recommend to find out what your real favourite is however!

Sorry about misspelling on the header - typing one handed!

Happy smoking...and take care!

Ouch! And ouch again, I think. Very sorry to hear. Every digit counts for a pipe person, so this must be a real pain. Hopefully it won't take too long to heal, but you'll just have to puff on that Rocky extra hard, Gerry. I read that you've had cold weather there.
All the very best for a full recovery.

Sorry to hear and I hope it heals quickly.

Rhona meanwhile is rubbing out the tobacco for me - she's definitely a keeper!

Thanks for all the good wishes - with a bit of luck the worst of the pain and swelling's over and maybe even thinking about going down a little - once again Rho was brilliant at 4.00am making tea with whisky.

You didn't break it JUST to get tea and whisky at 4am, did you Gerry? The lengths some people will go to...

First thing this morning was a trip to the local medical centre who referred me to the Hospital del Sol Marbella, who fast tracked me - X -rayed me and splinted me and reassured me it was a simple fracture - all for free as we had payed EEC dues in the UK. OK so I got a row at every stage for not presenting earlier... but the treatment was First Class and all were kindly, and to be honest faster than the UK - as confirmed by Rho - herself a Depute Matron ( Scots Title sic).
