Have any badges from Smokingpipes.com?

If its about the fine hobby of pipe smoking but not specific to one of the other forums post about it here.

Have any badges from Smokingpipes.com?

Postby KevinP » Sat Jan 07, 2017 11:51 pm

This is totally a fluff question.

After a certain number of orders at smokingpipes.com, you may be awarded certain badges. I have two, neither new. They are:

La Dolce Vita! Bronze: You have more than 5 Italian pipes in your collection!

Eclectic Taste Bronze: You have more than 5 different brands in your collection!

Do you have any?

Sorry, Kevin. Not a chance of this here. Sounds like a good idea, though. Do they give a discount if you get to a certain number?

I have 9, which would follow from the description of one of them:

"VIP Silver: You are among the most valued Smokingpipes.com customers."

Pretty sure it's just a fun thing they do. No discount.

It's a way to build "community" and loyalty. Guys on the A list get phone calls from Sykes when they get something in that my be of interest and for consultation before buying trips. :ugeek:

Only if you don't want to go bankrupt buying pipes and tobacco from them.

fwiw, I am not on the A List despite having spent a kazillion dollars over the past four years, but I might get there one day.

Just got upgraded to silver (more than 10 Italian pipes) thanks to a 70s production Caminetto.

No real point. That's why I called it a fluff question.

I've always thought it might be more effective for smokingpipes if based on purchase history, they provided some kind of graduated discount or maybe an annual gift card/credit that could be applied gradually over the year. The Mercedes dealer I use sends me a $1000 service discount card every year which has some per visit limits, but assures that unless I get really pissed at them, I will go there vs. one of the other 4-5 around here. Not that it takes them long to get back in the chips even when I use it... :D

Yeah, that'd be a damn sight more useful than something equivalent to:

" :!: You have bought x pipes from us."

:)

That's pretty impressive, Les. We have nothing like it over here. Still, not to worry. Hope you are enjoying some great pipes and tobaccos today.
Keep up the record!
