Which pipe medium?

If its about the fine hobby of pipe smoking but not specific to one of the other forums post about it here.

Which pipe medium?

Out of briars, cobs, Meerschaums, clays and metal system pipes, which one is your preference?
I have all five in the collection; briar and metal take the lead by a mile, with briar just inching ahead, I think. The metal (Falcon) is extremely close behind. My clays remain virtually unsmoked, just couldn't get along with them. They will stay out of curiosity.
Can't think of more than these five types, but perhaps there are!
Moi, fumer une pipe, naturellement...

The following bowl materials come to mind:-

Briar, meerschaum, clay, porcelain, corn cob, morta, metal, cherrywood, pearwood and certain other fruit-woods.

When all is said and done, I think I have to go with a good briar :)

I only have briars and a gourd calabash with a meerschaum insert. The briars are the regular smokers, but I like the calabash - nice and cool, and exactly one rubbed-out Irish Flake fits the bowl perfectly. (The bowls on most of the briars are a bit too small, so there's always some left over.)

Usually briar at home and meerschaums while elsewhere .This is because most of my briars are case less and would create a mess in my pocket after smoking (learnt from experience) .Any other materiel is at home but not as often as briar .
