Stone Pipe

Just wondering if any of you guys have ever smoked a stone pipe? I have made a few myself, with proper size tobacco chambers unlike the ones you see on ebay which I would say with the very small bowls are made for smoking something other than tobacco. Anyway I have made pipes out of Catlinite & Alabaster& soapstone, of the 3 stones Catlinite is the best material for pipes, It is the sacred pipe stone of the Native American Indians. The Catlinite smokes as good as any briar you can find bar none. I was just curious as to if any of you guys have had the pleasure of smoking a quality stone pipe before?

I have smoked a couple of Native American pipes with stone bowls. I wouldn't mind owning one.

Never crossed my mind before, but sounds intriguing. Any pictures? Seems they would be heavier than briar.

Ever since I went to Indian Summers in Milwaukee this past summer I have wanted to make my own Native American style pipe with a catlinite bowl. I love the look. Do you happen to know where I can get a block of said stone?
MY PIPE
When love grows cool, thy fire still warms me;
When friends are fled, thy presence charms me.
If thou art full, though purse be bare,
I smoke and cast away all care!

Paul: I tried to add pictures of the pipes I have made it said file was to big but I will try again. Although if you would like to see some native american catlinite pipes go to ebay & type in Catlinite Pipes . The pipestone is Heavy its not for wagging around in your mouth. I do smoke mine quiet regular here at my desk.

Atlas: You can buy catlinite on ebay ruff stone but make sure its Minnesota Pipestone, not Utah Pipestone, Utah pipestone is harder material . The Minnesota Pipestone is only in Minnesota, its found no where else on earth. The Utah Pipestone is close to the same material but is a harder material to carve. The Minnesota Pipestone will carve easy by hand tools & sand & polish easy by hand.
