TOTM: Aug - Oct

Each month we'll have some focused reviews on a particular blend.

TOTM: Aug - Oct

Postby ewlewis » Sat Jul 02, 2011 12:43 am

It is that time again to decide what will be in our next three month rotation. I would like to also take a moment to recognize that we have now completed a year of doing the quarterly selection process. I think it has gone well.

So, what do you think? Should be continue the quarterly selection process?

What blends should we choose for this quarter?

And isn't Presbyterian absolutely the best tobacco ever? :P

I'm open to anything, just won't be participating (that month) if it has perique in the mix since it doesn't agree with me. Still in the experimental, I will try any blend once stage of my education so hard for me to actually make a suggestion.

I really enjoyed the last couple of months... Anybody up for a unique or off the wall blend for one of them? but i'm thinking diff genre for each month. Lat for one, burley for the other, english for the last.. I have yet to try any perique blends...

Here is a line up as a suggestion:

Aug: GLP Jacknife Plug or MacB navy Flake
Sept: Rattray's HOTW or Night Train
Oct: Dunhill EMP or Presby

So there are some options, plus what was mentioned above. Keep the thoughts coming

Definitely keep it up! I think quarterly works well, lets you order them at the same time and save a few bucks on shipping.

If we want an off the wall, try captain bob's blend. I got some and it is good, strange, but good. I would recommend a cob cause it will ghost. It's a grape flavored, sounds weird, but it just works, sort of like grape cigars. I am not huge on aeros, but I really like it if you can't tell. :)

I am interested in Presbyterian, never tried it and it sounds good. I have never tried a plug tobacco, so Jack Knife Plug would be cool for me too. Really though I am o.k. with whatever, I am enjoying trying different stuff that more experienced guys know about.

So I am thinking we should rap this up by the 14th so that we can order. So keep the ideas coming.

Def Jacknife and Presby... Whats the other? I'm in... Ill customize my next order with this. plus Orlik Golden sliced.. Been wanting to try it. Heard it was decent.
And there we go.. Orlik Golden SLiced, GLPease Jacknife Plug, a Legend MM Cob, and some softy pipe bits... Sounds good to me.. and under 30 bucks too, can't beat that...

Of what you have up there I would prefer Aug: JackKnife Plug, Sep: HOTW, & Oct: EMP. Will be happy with anything honestly except for the Night Train since it contains perique. :)

I believe it is safe to say that Jacknife and Presby are in. So that leaves Night Train or HOTW. My vote was for HOTW which would leave it at a 2-2 vote between the 2 choices. Tomorrow I would like to post what the third choice will be, so get in your votes.

Well you can scratch my vote totally for the middle set now. I went looking for the tobaccos this morning and even though tobaccoreviews.com lists HOTW as virginia content only, the manufacturers website differed and said it also contained perique. So either way I won't be partaking in HOTW or NIght Train since the both have perique. Will still be buying a tin of the other two though. :)

Sorry Tx that it leaves you our, but I will enjoy having you partake in the other months. Given the lack of response otherwise, this will be the line up.

Aug: GLP Jacknife Plug
Sept: HOTW
Oct: Presby

Just a newbie suggestion... when final decision is made can the full name of the selections be posted. Took me about 5 min to figure out what HOTW was on 4noggins. Nothing like a little cut-and-paste from a suppliers web page makes purchasing much quicker. My 2 cents.

Example:
Sept: HOTW

versus,

Sept: Rattray's HAL O' THE WYND
