TOTM: Nov. - Jan.

Each month we'll have some focused reviews on a particular blend.

TOTM: Nov. - Jan.

Alright guys we are in the last month of our current rotation and we need to get the next quarter figured out. SO start naming those blends that you have been dying to try and lets get a list started.

Here is some of the stuff on my list that I want to try.

Dan Tobacco: Hamborger Veermaster (may not be possible as it is often out of stock)
Dan Tobacco: The Malthouse
Peterson: University Flake
Dunhill: Early Morning Pipe
Gawith, Hoggarth, & Co.: Brown Flake, Scented
Cornell & Diehl: Blockade Runner
Pipeworks & Wilke: Gramercy Park
Robert McConnell: Oriental

I will suggest some C&D blends that get little to no lip service:

Black Frigate
Easy Times
Old Hollywood
Pegasus

I'd be interested in -any- of the Esoterica blends other than Penzance and Stonehaven - only because those two are often hard to come by as well as so highly praised that they overshadow the other, apparently also quite good, blends from Esoterica.

Similarly I'd be interested in Butera blends other than Kingfisher or Pelican, and I'd also be interested in pretty much any Rattray blend.

actually, here's my Nov suggestion:

Rattray's Red Rapparee

this tobacco is so frequently compared to Presbyterian Mixture, it would be fun to follow PM with it and see what we all think.

I like the idea of Black Frigate, University Flake, and maybe Irish Flake

Unless it's in my cellar currently, I can't play, but Red Papparree is a solid blend that would follow Presbyterian very nicely. It's definitely heavier than Presby, but has some interesting similarities.

I'd say Nightcap, Robert Lewis 123 Mixture, Kendal Kentucky

Read the post again. Didn't see I'm supposed to request blends I haven't tried

In that case I withdraw my suggestion of Irish flake and university flake and vote for black frigate and dunhill nightcap

McClelland Christmas Cheer for November seems apt. Definitely need a McC Va in there somewhere. Va #22 is worth a try too.

Does anyone have a full list of the TOTM tobaccos we've tried? Never sure if I'm going to nominate something we've smoked already.

Nov - Peretti's Thanksgiving Day
Dec - McClelland Christmas Cheer
Jan - ?

I suppose then we have to decide if we want to go with a seasonal themed selection or go in another direction in accordance with what has already been recommended

I saw Nightcap mentioned...I gotta say I'm supportive of that one. I've smoked it, but it was way back when I was first trying (and miserably failing) to learn to smoke a pipe about 5 or 6 years ago. I have a vague recollection of the taste of it, but nothing substantial. It's something I've been meaning to come back to for some time.

Having the tobaccos have a seasonal theme doesn't matter to me. Would like to be able to get them all in 1 order rather than multiple, but I guess that all really depends on what we choose.

So far from what I can tell frontrunners are as such:

(I recommend just having one of these two instead of 2 flakes, but they both have been recommended alot)
University Flake
Irish Flake

Nightcap
Christmas Cheer
Red Rapparee

I think this rounds it off from what I can tell. Feel free to add other choices.

Out of these my vote would be...

Nov: Red Rapparee
Dec: Christmas Cheer
Jan: Irish Flake

I love Irish Flake and Uni Flake but since I've smoked them I vote:

Nightcap
Christmas Cheer
