July TOTM

Postby jwh891 » Wed Jun 12, 2013 6:22 pm

Alright, well there hasn't been much said on this other than quite a few people would like to see it come back. So, I've decided to take matters into my own hands. I created a poll so we could at least get a TOTM for July. I'll close the poll around the 20th or so, so that we can have enough time to pick a blend and get it ordered if you don't own it already. Once we get the ball rolling down hill we'll do August and September and October blends.

I tried to pick blends that would be fairly easy to get on either side of the pond.

If you vote other, let us know what your other is.

If no one votes...than I guess I'll pick the blend

Good to see this, I joined too late to participate in the previous ones.

Anyway, I chose Red Rapparee simply because I've got everything else except for the G&H Brown and I assume that it is probably a twin of the SG Best Brown Flake which I have.

Whatever you guys prefer is fine with me, I just won't have an excuse to go buy something new.

Vote for Dunhill Early Morning Pipe. Only because of very high in nicotine.

Nice selection .
Thanks for the selection of tobaccos readily available in the UK .If it is a success I think it would be fair for the next months choices to be from the US .

No problem. I would be okay with alternating which side of the pond the tobacco came from but it was my understanding US tobaccos are difficult to obtain in the UK.

It's fairly easy to get UK blends over here, aside from the occasional Sam Gawith shortage that is, but I haven't noticed any lately.

Although I would love to spend more time getting to know Royal Yacht, I don't have any in the cellar. Tobacco is hard to get to Washington, so I picked the only one on that list I have and haven't tried...Marlin Flake.

Which one? I've had Royal Yacht once before and truly loved it. I need a few more tins to be sure though. I'm really hoping Marlin Flake is more to my liking than Hal O' the Wynd. A wonderful tobacco, but I never reach for it for some reason.

BTW, Red Rapparee is a brilliant smoke...even for this non-latakia smoker.

I was referring to Marlin. Only tried Royal Yacht once and loved it.

Just as an FYI - the G&H brown is quite different from the SG offering. I'd give it a shot and see what you think.

Alright, well I'm going to close the poll now. Meant to do it earlier but I forgot. Guess Marlin Flake is the July TOTM! Looking forward to what everyone thinks!
