"old peterson K&P pipe" identifcation

Postby daniel87829 » Fri Sep 25, 2015 7:20 am

purchased on the bay....i purchased a "K & P" Pipe The Words on the pipe are too worn to clearly see what is actually on it. the "silvery"

I looked at pipedia, wiki here and other places on line and i know Peterson made k&p commemorative pipes in the 70s. can some one recommend a site or link or post or some such to help me with my id

also the letters are faded/ i assume raised due to moisture and age can it be fixed so i can see what my pipe is. i know the stem is a replacement from a pipe repair site. i adjusted the stem from straight to comfy bent.

it smokes great i only see a fill that broke, on the bowl.

i mostly want to know how old it is, literally is it a real vintage K&P or is it a newer commemorative or is it a knock off, but would love to know how old in general
thanks all

A relatively safe way to check your pipe (provided that the silver ring is not a replacement) is its hallmarking. On the ring there are 3 symbols-which I can't see clearly on my phone-sorry for that. Peterson's web site has a detailed table with all the hallmarks. Plus the silvercollection.it, where you may find an abudance of'em.

But I just read that the ring is a replacement...sorry for the post :/

the silver ring looks original but all i see is the standard 3 symbols from Peterson no hallmarking.

The third symbol is the hallmark, get a magnifying glass and you should be able to sort it out. http://www.peterson.ie/t/hallmarking

No visible hall marks

K&p peterson's over
shamrock and fox

Ireland barely visable on right side ( from smoking perspective)

33 visable under Ireland , may be space for 1 between 33
