2015 POY

2015 POY

Postby Bob » Thu Oct 09, 2014 3:44 pm

It may be a bit early to bring this up but when do you guys want to do the 2015 POY? The first year everyone thought it was cool to have a Christmas, oops ... Holiday pipe. Should we wait until spring or summer 2015? Let me know what you think or even if you want to have a POY.

Edit: We need a 3 to 4 month lead time to get the pipes once we start the process. Even that is a tight schedule.

Looks like we'll get serious in January to figure out if there is enough interest.

I'm down with whenever works for everyone else. Maybe I'll be able to enjoy my first T&P POY! :D

Spring is fine by me. The Christmas rush and spend will be over by then and we can start saving up for the new pipe! But, I'd be equally happy with the majority decision on this.

Spring or Summer is fine with me. If you are going to run this, Bob, then I am guessing that first choice would be a US carver to avoid the hassles that Kevin and you have previously encountered because of time differences, etc.?

I prefer spring or summer as the Holiday financial pressures are over with as well as correlating closer to Fathers Day and a somewhat legitimate excuse to treat myself to a new pipe :D.

Richard, the overall process with Invicta was fairly painless. The only issue I had was delay in communication to some degree. Not sure if it was an out-of-country thing, or just the way Pete handles his emails :D I thought the process of ordering, paying, and receipt went better than anticipated. As long as the vendor has paypal or means of credit card payment, all should be good.

I can rarely smoke my pipes anymore (health reasons) but when I do, it is almost always the Ferndown we got in 2013. If for no other reason, they seem like a great investment from the prices I am seeing!

Sorry man, but don't think that there will be one.

Getting a POY across the finish line is a lot of work and the consensus was that it was not worth the effort unless ~20 people were in. There was some preliminary investigation, but when fewer than that even posted to this thread, it seemed unlikely that enough would actually line up to pay for one.

My personal thought is that this should be an every other year thing anyway and should try to bring in something special like the 2013 Ferndown that resulted in something like 30 orders and Zero complaints.
