I seem to like the aromatics more after a meal or late at night. Va's/Vapers most other times. English blends every once in a while. A friend recently told me that I just haven't developed my palate fully enough to appreciate the English's. Perhaps he's right. Time will tell.

I have started smoking my new tin and I think i'm on the love side of this tobacco.(of the love/hate vibe this blend gives off ;) ) I was wondering what you thought of using this tobacco to break in new pipes and for building a new cake. I have tried a few other tobaccos lately in a couple of my pipes with no cakes and they just burnt the hell out of my toungue, but this blend is fairly cool and sweet from the get go. I really like the taste, but I'm wondering if there would be another baccy like this one that you think would build cake up a little quicker?

Cheers, stavs.

I dunno Stavs-I usually break in with the Prince. I ought to give it a try. I do know someone that uses MacB Scottish Mixture to break in his pipes-it's sorta like Plumcake w/out the Latakia in my opinion. Speaking of which don't you love that teensy bit o' Latakia in Plumcake? I love that stuff, and have NEVER gotten the dreaded "MacBaren" bite we all have heard about.

I have heard about the bite and have never had that experience myself. But at this early stage of my pipe smoking experience I don't really know where the different flavours are coming from so I can't really compare with Latakia to without. All I know is I love me some Plumcake :D I'll have to see what else tickles my fancy when I have tried some of my new tobacco order.

to me, Plumcake is one of the most interesting tobaccos i've ever had in my bowls (see my review on tobaccoreviews.com). i also like mixing with this stuff, i sometimes add a little of this to my de luxe navy rolls to add an interesting tang when i'm not in mood for that much VA.
