Another Pete Spigot

Last one was much better than expected, Peterson has remembered how to make a great pipe at least if you get spendy! This is another nice one:

I've read of concerns by some smokers of the quality of later Petersons. I must admit that, of about a dozen Petersons I own, I have no real complaints, with the system pipes being the best in consistent reliability. Strangely, each of the three Harps I have gurgles, so there must be a flaw here somewhere.

This is a lovely pipe, Richard. As you indicate, a little extra spending may get that extra quality. The grain looks fabulous here. I've never been a fan of spigots, but maybe one day... yours certainly has that classy look to it and I do wish you many happy smokes in it.
Good to see.

Thanks boys.

Funny that you mention Harps, Steve. I have 3 and the stain failed on each within a year which revealed an unacceptable number of fills. Those were all made in 2013 I think, didn't smoke very well. and turned me against contemporary Petes although I bought several Petes that were not too bad. The contrast with pre-2000 pipes was remarkable in all of them though, the older ones are wonderful. Not sure why it should take $$$ just to find a new Pete that compares favorably to the old Donegal Rocky range, but at least they exist again.
